Details:

This Atlas HO Scale Code 100 Custom Line(R) Mark IV Turnout features Code 100 nickel-silver rail with molded black ties. The turnout comes equipped with a metal frog that can be powered if necessary for your layout, and a throw bar with the extension on the straight (or outside on curved versions) stock rail side. Custom Line turnouts feature Code 100 low-oxidation nickel silver rail with a realistic cross-section and can be used with a variety of switch machines or ground throws (sold separately). COMMENTS:

As on earlier Custom-Line Turnouts, the new Atlas Custom-Line Mark IV Turnouts are constructed so that regardless of switch point settling both branches are powered. Due to this the new metal frog is insulated and carries no current. As on earlier Custom-Line Turnouts, most locos will span the insulated frog without loss of electrical pickup; however, engines of extremely short wheelbase or diesels with single-truck pickup may hesitate or stall at the frog. The problem is easily overcome by equipping turnouts with an Atlas Snap Relay (item #200) which, when wired to the remote switch machine, will energize the frog with track current of correct polarity depending on the switch point setting.
